Technical Skills for Motorcycling

Corners and tight roads are what many of us love for but it is in these areas that most accidents occur. Getting it right is perhaps the most rewarding aspect of Motorcycling Technical Skills. Getting it wrong can wreck yours (and others) the whole day or worse.

As this is a rider-led discussion and practice, the topics below are a guide only as each group discussion goes in different directions. This is a 2.5-hour session- a maximum of four riders with discussions held between riding activities.

Session Focus Areas:

  • Our values and expectations
  • Our individual riding history and paperwork / licence check
  • Mindset and Fear
  • Bike assessment and set up
  • Buffering
  • Posture
  • Corning lines
  • Counter steering
  • Trail braking
  • Lean angle and traction
  • Bike dynamics
  • Gear selection
  • Vision
  • Throttle control and speed
  • Fatigue
  • Exercises and practice (specifically for technical skills)
